Burglary is very rampant, these days. It is impossible to stop determined burglars, from breaking into your home. But there are steps that you can take to discourage them. Here are some of the steps that you can take to deter a burglar.

  • Firstly, always keep all doors and windows locked. A large percentage of burglaries occur through unforced entries.
  • When you are on vacation or away for an extended time, leave a car in the driveway if possible. Arrange for your mails to be picked up, once the mail man delivers them.
  • Always ask for a ID, from, anyone who is at your door, even if they are wearing a uniform. Most importantly, don't open your door to anyone that you are not expecting.
  • Place motion sensor lights around your house, so that you can be aware, if someone is lurking outside.
  • When you leave your house, turn down the ringer on your phone. This is a dead give away to burglars.
  • If it's possible, change all the locks on your doors, when you move into a new home.
  • You can also put up a, "Beware of Dog," sign in your yard or you can get a dog.
